New Delhi: A 31-year-old MSc Physics student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi died on Saturday morning after falling from the sixth floor of a building inside the institute’s Lecture Hall Complex. Police said the student appears to have jumped, though the exact circumstances of his death are still being established.

Responding to the death, the institute put out an IIT Delhi official statement mourning the loss: “The Institute deeply mourns the tragic and untimely demise of an M.Sc. student on August 22, 2026.
