Guy Martin’s Unexpected Marriage U-Turn Revealed

Former motorcycle racer and TV presenter Guy Martin is known for his love of bikes, speed, and adventure. He was born on November 4, 1981, in Grimsby, England. Guy grew up around motorcycles because his father, Ian Martin, was also a bike racer who competed in several Isle of Man TT events. Along with racing, his father worked as a lorry mechanic and sold bikes to support the family.

Guy’s mother, Rita, had Latvian roots, as her father came to Britain in 1947 as a political refugee. He was named after Guy Gibson, a famous Royal Air Force pilot from World War II.

From Motorcycle Racing to Television

Guy Martin first became popular through his motorcycle racing career. However, he retired from racing in July 2017 and later moved into television.

One of his most popular TV shows is Guy Martin: Proper Jobs, which airs on U&Dave. The first season aired in 2025 and showed Guy trying some of Britain’s toughest jobs. During the series, he worked as a firefighter, became a wildlife warden on a remote island, joined a fishing trawler as a deckhand, and trained with mountain rescue dog handlers.

After the success of the first season, Guy returned with another series earlier this year. In season two, he drilled deep beneath the North Sea in the UK’s last deep mine, worked on a remote island in the Hebrides milking dairy cows, and also experienced the dangerous world of HGV recovery work, which was close to his mechanic background.

In other trending world news, reports about the MV Hondius Hantavirus outbreak have also gained major attention online this week.

Guy Martin’s Personal Life

Guy Martin met his long-time partner Sharon Comiskey at a moped race in Ireland in 2010. The couple have been together for many years and also have a daughter named Dottie.

For a long time, Guy openly said that he did not believe in marriage. In earlier interviews, he explained that he was happy with his life and did not think getting married was necessary.

However, in 2023, Guy revealed that he had changed his mind. Speaking to Radio Times, he said he had bought an engagement ring and planned to keep the wedding simple with only a few guests. Guy later married Sharon, while their seven-year-old daughter Dottie acted as the flower girl during the ceremony.

Six-Month Driving Ban

Last month, Guy Martin was banned from driving for six months after he was caught speeding twice on his Honda motorcycle. The former racer was prosecuted by Northamptonshire Police and Leicestershire Police after speed cameras recorded the offences.

A representative from law firm Chattertons said on his behalf that Guy “apologises to the court for his offending” and would not challenge the six-month driving ban.

Upcoming TV Appearance

Guy Martin is now set to appear on the latest episode of James Martin’s Saturday Morning on May 9. The episode will also feature chefs Romy Gill, Nick Nairn, and Lesley Waters, while James Martin cooks from his Hampshire kitchen.

James Martin’s Saturday Morning is available to stream on ITVX, while Guy Martin: Proper Jobs can be watched on U&Dave.
